David Ellis leads Bain's Technology, Media and Telecoms practice in Australia & New Zealand, and heads Bain’s B2B Telco capability globally.
David has more than 20 years of consulting and TMT industry experience that spanned Sydney, Auckland, Hong Kong, London, Frankfurt and Munich.
In his role at Bain, he works with clients in ‘key moments of truth’ to seize new growth opportunities, achieve rapid turnaround or to drive value through M&A – especially in the TMT sector.
David has deep subject matter expertise in Telecommunications, especially in B2B segments. In his B2B Telco role, he is particularly active on a global basis, supporting Bain clients across all regions to seize opportunities for growth and value creation in this segment.
Prior to Bain, David was a Managing Director within a global consulting and systems integration firm for 7 years, most recently as the Telecoms Industry Lead for APAC and Global B2B Telco lead.
Before this, he held a number of senior management positions in telecommunication turnarounds, heading Group Technology & Transformation Office through the $3 billion transformation of Telecom New Zealand (now Spark NZ), and leading the Voice Business at Cable&Wireless following the merger with Energis.
David began his career as a consultant in London and Frankfurt, and also enjoyed spells as a venture capitalist at Morgan Stanley and a within a Munich-based wireless start-up that he co-founded.
David holds MA, MEng and PGCDMM degrees from the University of Cambridge, and has been invited back on numerous times to act as a guest lecturer.
