Dr. Franz-Robert Klingan is the sector leader for our Healthcare Private Equity Business in EMEA. He is a director in Bain's Healthcare and Life Sciences and Pharmaceuticals practices in the German-speaking region and leader in Bain's Private Equity and Supply Chain Management practices. He has more than 25 years of industry and management consulting experience, working with multinational client teams and investors to develop new strategies for lasting results.
Through his academic, healthcare industry and consulting experience, Franz-Robert has developed deep expertise within biotech, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and diagnostics as well as medical technologies and healthcare providers. He also maintains a close interest in adjacent areas, such as specialty chemicals and high-tech materials.
Franz-Robert has extensive expertise in corporate and business unit strategy, performance improvement and commercial review/valuation, with a robust perspective on related non-healthcare industries. He covers the entire M&A value chain for healthcare clients and institutional investors and maintains a strong interest in commercial due diligence, corporate M&A, merger integration, and functionally in R&D and product development, as well as 21CFR11 compliant manufacturing and supply chain.
Franz-Robert has applied his consulting expertise globally with Bain, having served clients out of our Boston office between 2002 and 2006 and subsequently our Munich office prior to leading our Vienna office.
Before joining Bain in 2000, Franz-Robert was active in the pharmaceutical industry as a Technology Transfer Manager, where he was responsible for major projects and alliances in the area of biotechnology and as a plant manager for biotech products. He started his career at Hoechst AG (now Sanofi).
He received a Master’s degree in chemistry from the Technical University of Munich, where he also earned his doctorate (both with highest honors).
