Dr. Markus Puttlitz is an expert in the firm's Enterprise Technology practice.
Throughout his tenure at Bain, Markus has advised clients on a wide array of strategic IT topics, particularly business-driven ERP transformations across all stages (strategy, software selection, systems integrator selection, design, implementation, piloting, rollout and turnaround). He has mostly served clients in the retail, consumer goods and manufacturing sectors and is deeply experienced in designing target enterprise architectures in these sectors.
Over many years both as a software consultant and as a management consultant, Markus has developed a particular spike in supply chain management software. He is also deeply versed in IT strategy, IT organization and operating model and IT cost transformation.
Prior to joining Bain in 2019, Markus held senior positions in the strategic IT practices of several other top consulting firms and also worked as a postsales implementation consultant at a leading supply chain management software firm.
Markus holds a Ph.D. in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, two master's degrees in industrial engineering and operations research from the same institute, and an MBA from INSEAD.
Markus is also a member of the IDG network of CIO and Computerwoche and publishes regularly on a number of strategic IT topics, particularly on ERP transformations.
