Bob Morette is an expert in the asset management, insurance and reinsurance sectors of Bain's Financial Services practice.
Bob's insurance work spans a range of industry sectors, including health, P&C, individual life, group products, specialty, distribution, reinsurance, statistical organizations, TPAs and service providers. He also works directly with reinsurers, advising private equity investors on reinsurance investments and helping hedge funds with reinsurance entry strategies.
Additionally, Bob has worked extensively with many of the top hedge funds and private equity managers on a broad range of strategy, growth, investment, distribution, operations, IT and organizational topics. He has also advised traditional asset managers, wealth managers, direct brokers, private equity funds and real estate investors. His clients also include service providers to asset managers and capital market players.

In addition to his work with Bain, Bob advises numerous alternative asset management firms on strategic, operational and organizational matters. He is also a director of GuideOne Insurance.
Bob previously served as a senior managing director at Citadel, a leading hedge fund headquartered in Chicago, where he reported to the founder and CEO. His responsibilities included overall strategic direction, new business and investment strategy development, marketing and investor relations, communications, human resources, recruiting, administration, real estate and special projects. He chaired the organization’s operating committee, was a member of its management committee and founded Citadel's reinsurance and retrocession activities.
Bob also spent 17 years with another global consulting firm, where he was a founding member of its financial services practice. He led the practice in the Midwest, co-led the North American Financial Practice and led the group's Insurance sector in the Americas. He also initiated the firm's consulting activities in the hedge fund industry.
He holds an MBA from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business. He graduated with a BA in economics, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Epsilon, from Union College.
Prior to earning his MBA, Bob was a project officer for The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and served as an economist and policy analyst for the Speaker of the New York State Legislature.
